Brad started KAPOW the week after he turned 15 and was keen to get stuck into work.
His class attendance was 100% and despite his LLN barrier he would listen to the trainers and was very appreciative of our support to help him through the course.
Brad successfully completed work experience at a local Panel Beater during his KAPOW program but they were not in a position to put on any new staff due to COVID19.
When Brad finished KAPOW in June he was then offered a week’s work experience at an organic farm at Sandy Beach.
Brad was offered a full-time Horticulture Traineeship with this employer and has been in his element ever since.
One of Brad’s main goals for this year was to gain employment on a farm. How good is it that this goal became a reality.
Well Done Brad.
“I found the course very interesting and would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, like me 🙂 But I loved that it wasn’t all in class and we went on excursions aswell. It was awesome, I wished it went longer.”
“I like KAPOW a lot because it’s good to learn new things and gain knowledge. It’s also good because you make friends with the trainers and other kids.”
“It’s a great place to be to make great friendships and get along with everyone. They have a good laugh and make it fun. The teachers are chilled and not as strict. They treat us with respect and like adults.”
“Now I don’t think I am below anybody. I feel different from what I used to believe. I am treated like an equal individual and my opinions are listened to with respect and courtesy.”
“Key Employment has changed my life by getting me a job and helping me start my career. They check on my progress regularly and are always there to offer support if I need it.”
