Ben shows off his customer service skills at café in Coffs Harbour after retail training.
Ben came to Key with a real desire and motivation to work but he wasn’t sure what he wanted to do. Ben enjoyed working with people but was afraid he was too shy to deal with customers. With the support of his consultant, Adam, Ben decided to enrol in a Certificate 3 in Retail through Key Training. Here, Ben started to learn the skills he needed to interact with customers.
Ben now felt he was ready to put the training into action and was lucky enough to secure employment at Bacio Café. At first Ben found it difficult and was still withdrawn and not very confident. However, with the support of his employers Genevieve and Tracey, Ben started to thrive and helped with customer service, food preparation and coffee making. Ben is now one of the main baristas’ in the café and is the epitome of service with a smile.
Ben’s self confidence has gone through the roof and he is loving the work and the sense of worth it gives him. It is testament to what can be achieved if you put your mind to it and with the right support.
