Grafton Key client Denise Brazier has reached the milestone of 150 blood donations, saving 153 lives across Australia since 1974.
Her blood type is RH negative, which is one of the more uncommon blood types.
“I don’t know who’s got it,” Denise said. “Maybe you’ve got it, maybe my neighbour’s got it, but donating blood is something I do and I’m very proud to give blood.”
Key Employment’s Grafton office held a celebration to recognise her achievement.
“It’s been a life goal of hers and we’ve said from day one that once she achieves the milestone we will celebrate with her,” Denise’s consultant Marcel Koning said. “It’s a very special occasion and obviously it takes a lot of time to reach this milestone, so it opened my eyes to the commitment. After 40-odd years of doing it, she wanted to hit 150 and now that she’s done that she said that’s it, so now she is a little bit sad she’s not giving blood, but she’s had a good span at it. We just wanted to give some credit for what she has done.”
Marcel said Denise was a fighter, and he is pleased to see her achieve what she has, “It’s such a good thing she has done for the community, donating blood for so long, it’s good to celebrate with her.”
“I found the course very interesting and would recommend it to anyone who loves animals, like me 🙂 But I loved that it wasn’t all in class and we went on excursions aswell. It was awesome, I wished it went longer.”
“I like KAPOW a lot because it’s good to learn new things and gain knowledge. It’s also good because you make friends with the trainers and other kids.”
“Key contact me or the boss regularly and make sure I don’t need anything to maintain my job.”
“Key Employment are helping me get my driving licence by providing free driving lessons to help me along the way.”
“Key Employment has helped me out a lot. I’m not as shy now and Key has helped me get a job and I’m more confident.”
